My 172's gearbox lasted 40k and I didn't abuse and spent alot of time sat on the motorway in 5th.

Thats surprising, the 18inch cup alloys for the Megane are only about £118 each.

I'd just try Renault first and see how much they are. They may only be around £100 brand new, better than trying to find one second hand

You can't really complain about getting 10% more power for £300, from a 1.2 na. 1*2's are lucky to get 5% more power from a remap.

Cheap to run for the speed really. Tyres £50-60 a corner Brakes are cheap from GSF MPG around 40 mpg on a long round and 30-35 mpg generally. Cheap to service. I'd say check for the Cambelt change and the exhausts. My gearbox went at 40k and 4 years old after having a easy motorway life...

My Dad has the same on his yellow Cupra R. I wouldn't use t-cut tbh, you really need to get a machine polisher on there really. I would try something like Meg - Scratch X & AutoGlym SRP first as you can get them both from Halfords and with a little hard work it should be better.
