Don't know why people moan about lack of service/difficulties to find the right map. If you are not able to understand the system behind the software/cal numbers you better not reprogramm your ECU... With my dealings Henk was always spot on.
When fitting cams you need to renew the timing belt, so not much more work taking the head off. I paid about 500 quid for reworking the head and skimming the flywheel. Yes, NA tuning is expensive.
There are uprated front ARBs available.

But stiffening up the front will result in understeer.
Here in Germany you can get different "ratio-cogs" for the 5th. Every gearbox specialist should be able to fit them. Don't think the 5th is that short from standard so wouldn't bother.
I have an adapter from an aftermarket system floating around which comes inbetween the shorter cat and the middle section if that is any help for you.
EDIT: I have a ph2 cat aswell...
