Takes the square root of sod all power compared to the load of starting the thing. Your symptoms sound exactly like those I'd expect from a goosed battery - a low battery voltage can cause absolute havoc with the electrics once it gets below a certain value.
As you've had the alternator checked...
Try A-plan's performance/hot hatch section in Thatcham - they are good for specialist/low mileage type policies.

But... but.... you're adding weight to the car! You'll need to remove some bolts to compensate, get rid of half the ones holding the wishbones on, it'll be fine.
Feel.... so..... old.......

What a heap of crap that car was, but you never forget your first and all that. Had some experiences in it I'll always remember.
Antivirus is a difficult one, personally I think the days of downloading 3rd party anti-virus software are largely over unless you really need extra layers of protection and control in a corporate environment. Because of the way they work, AV products can actually introduce another surface for...
I’m only running 2560x1440 so in all honesty anything better than a 1070 will just be wasted on stupid high frame rates that I personally can’t perceive anyway.
Graphics card market is insane ATM. I can’t remember a time when it made more sense to get one of the first wave of “founders edition” cards or whatever direct from nVidia than wait for the aftermarket because the prices are now so inflated. Bloody miners :D
Still rocking my GTX970, fancy a...
It’s up for sale, but in the most lazy, can’t-be-arsed-to-sell-it way possible.....
It’s on here, one FB group and in the track car section of PH which hardly anyone ever uses. When I have the energy to deal with the general public I’ll put it up for sale in the main section of PH and brace for...
I can see that to be fair, the R26 is going to make a much more competent daily. I’ve got the Golf and the M3 sat on the drive and the heart says M3 but I take the Golf every time unless it’s purely for a hoon.
Isn't there some rule about previous owners getting first dibs when their old cars come up for sale? If not there bloody well should be ;)
Hold onto it if you possibly can mate, you'll regret selling it, trust me on this.
I don't think the guidelines have radically changed TBH, they've just re-clarified them. A friendly/sensible MoT tester should be fine with a track car as long as it's clearly modified as such, it's just finding one :D
Wise words mate, I almost always get tuition because even if it's a track I know well there's always something else to tweak and the better instructors take where you are and work onwards from there.
Got to agree with you about the cost of the car, I've never chucked anything around as much as...
I’m in two minds about this one TBH. My opinion is probably somewhat coloured by the fact I’ve only been there once and overall it was a lousy day due to the track being greasy as hell and staying that way most of the day and also some of the worst driving I’ve ever seen.
Firstly, Silverstone...
Some people be daft. A definite problem vs an unknown chance that the dealer might make an error when taking the head off, I know which one I'd go for.
Try A-Plan too, I got a policy on the M3 including five trackdays and the trackday cover came in at something like £35 a day assuming you use them all. Greenlight tend to be *very* competitive for Clios though so it'll be down to how the sums work out.
Their Thatcham office covers the high...
They’re good, the wife used to have one, lots of fun to drive, not very fast but perky enough. IIRC the pricing didn’t make a lot of sense when they were new, but used is a different story.
Personally I think they’re generally a bit underrated, although obviously they’re no RS.
I've a horrible feeling there's another one lurking in my future, a light, revvy little hooligan hot hatch just seems to be the sweet spot for the way I like to drive.
I'm going to give a rented Caterham a track outing at some point this year, so maybe that'll turn my head :D
It does sound like it could well be the HG if you've got mayo under the oil cap and you're losing oil and coolant. However, you could just as easily have mayo under there if you're only doing short journeys (with the car running like crap) and be losing the oil and coolant through leaks...
