Anyone with timing tools that can help pls? Manchester area.

Who did it? I'm not the kind to rip into someone as we are all capable of making a mistake but it's how you deal with the mistakes that sets you apart fr the rest. I'm just curious Birchdown would also be my shout but if you wanted a trip to Nottingham I would gladly look at it for you. Mick

Out with the Mk3, In with the Mk4

Lovely car mate, well Jel but for me it would have to be in Mercury. Some folks are just stuck in the past when they say the 172 is better or raw but is it faster or any more practical than the EDC in the real world? Unlikely. Is it quicker around a track in the hands of the same driver...

Pinout wiring diagram for 197/200 ECU

That's easy, you take it from the triggers at the coils. You need two so grab one from cylinders 1/4 and another from 2/3. It's very simple to work out which wires you need as there are only two at each coil. You need the ones that don't show any voltage.

    Geometry set up

You will most likely need an extremely minor adjustment to your tracking/steering alignment, nothing more chap.

    Dephaser or Aux belt rattle???

Easiest way to confirm/deny the theory would be to take the aux belt off and briefly run the vehicle when it's warm to see if the noise is there still. If it is then you've busted your own theory but if it's not then have a good tug on things like the alternator, water pump and PAS pump to see...

    Fixing Stud Conversion Kit....

You need to use a stud lock NOT a bearing lock (as that shiz is structural).

    Itb running issues

Yeah they should be capable of locking the crank at TDC and then seeing if MOT1496 can be inserted in to the camshaft setting notches without issue.

    Itb running issues

I personally wouldn't trust a generic map but that's just me so this needs checking. A timing issue is also indeed possible and as above, it doesn't take much with these to create an issue that has gone un-noticed on standard management. A timing check is 30minutes work and very cheap to do in...

STOP light and high coolant temperature

Yep, as per Dan above OR the A/C condenser rubs thru it if incorrectly fitted/mounts destroyed. Then there's the water pump, Thermostat housing, pipework, etc... Head gaskets are RARE!!!

    Help! car is freezing..

It will be as above, the control motor cannot alter the temp because the plastic has snapped.

STOP light and high coolant temperature

You need to start looking at your car for signs of a leak mate... Only you can answer this one.

    Michelin pilot ps3 or pe2?

Technically the Clio requires a V speed rated tyre but an H will be fine for everyday use

    172 heating up very quickly!

Normally, the engine must be up to temp to carryout the emissions test and i've not seen a cooling fan on a Clio II function in years whilst carrying out one. So when you start the car, within a few minutes the output hot air is roasting! Yeah, that is completely wrong and you really need that...

Clio 172 Phase 1 steering problem!

It would be doing it all the time at a guess if that were the case Dan? I've never known a Ph1 (with Bosch ABS 4.0) to activate braking on its own and as the system is extremely basic and balanced it shouldn't be able to violently alter trajectory. Are you on the brakes at all when this...

    New key required

Regarding keys being cut they are £12ish from Renault but this is where things get funny if you've changed locks as they are cut to VIN number. Key fobs can be done for £120 inclusive of VAT here but I appreciate there are cheaper places out there. I buy keys from Renault so £73+VAT just for...

    172 heating up very quickly!

Couldn't do emissions test because the radiator fan wasn't working... erm, okay What is the air temp output from the heater blower like with this: roasting hot, tepid or not even remotely warm?

    Michelin pilot ps3 or pe2?

PE2 is the better tyre IMO (I've got both on shoes for the Cup) and they are still available in 195/50/15 for cheaps

    abs electrical fault

The problem with this is that all you are doing is confirming the sensors function which, as you already suspect, may not be the actual problem. Really, you need help and equipment to fix this... you need to test the wiring loom itself from the sensor back to the module. Mick

Electrical faults and ECU light on

You should start by checking the vehicles internal and external earth points but the most important question I have for you is does the car have any problems with water leaking in to the cabin?

Do you need to code a air bag ecu?

The part numbers will always match as there's only the one type. What you need to be sure of is a couple of things: 1 - The doner car hasn't had any airbags or pretensioners deployed 2 - It's from a similar spec car Different versions of the X65 have different bits of equipment which makes up...

    Calling all Thunderbolt monitor owners/users

Cheers for the reply - The problem I have is that being VAT registered and buying via the EDU Store, buying a used item isn't really saving me much over a new one and then there's the buying a device without AppleCare debate to consider to (for me at least: I like AppleCare).

    'black friday'

Yeah I'm hoping to get something off a trackpad and wired keyboard to, even if I get nothing off the Display. I can't stop looking at the retina iPad Mini's to. I don't need one but I seem to want one.

    'black friday'

Waiting until the weekend as I want a Thunderbolt Display. Somehow, I don't think they'll discount these anyway and it'll be iPads and iPhones... IF they do anything.

    Cup friendly Mot centres Fife

Why not just contest the result of they fail you? You can actually ask VOSA to step in and over rule the testers decision but they do have to record some kind of balanced rear brake effort.

I had Safari issues under 8.1 and found CS crashed everytime I wrote "I'll" in the quick reply. It hasn't done this since 8.1.1 I'm happy to say.

    Moving from Android to iOS

I absolutely love iOS again but there are some small features I really miss from Android (not enough to make me go back). Google's iron fist of greed steadily creeping in to AOSP isn't one of them though.

    182 engine noise help

That's fine chap, you don't have to come to me lol Did the paperwork for the 72k job specifically state it had the dephaser replaced though? If so, what is the date as all parts sold, by law, come with 12 months warranty
