James, you are a better man than me for letting it go and that car is honestly a Mahoosive credit to you as it puts some "professional" builds to shame.
One day though he'll get his... karma's a b**ch like that... it may not be for years but it will happen.
Gentle gentle, not maximum chicken or else you'll bend rods!
The idea is to get the engine to idle on its own and then to slowly start to add some revs.
I love it when someone tells you its an "injector" problem on a common rail diesel as 7 out of 10 times, in the case of the K9K unit, its actually not.
It needs proper diags though as mentioned above and someone thats not trying to up-sell you a set of injectors based on a code pulled with a...
I can't help it and its down to long hours and stupid people calling me asking why their EM light is on and they don't want to pay me to look at their cars. Oh, then there's the text mesage from random CSers at gone 10pm asking me if I'm available to talk about their car problems.
Honestly...
It will do that, its telling you how much it hates you but as above, go easy... a few brief squirts every couple of seconds in the inlet and it'll eventually run itself.
Its also a good idea to NOT do this in an enclosed space as the fumes will take the hair off your ballsack.
Diesel knock is normally caused by incorrect timing, fuelling or injector control. It may also be a compression related issue but its unlikely if its starting on the button.
Well one, your battery is flat (that won't help) and two have you checked there is fuel rather than air at the injectors yet as cranking aline isn't going ti give the required pressure.
It means the cars network is passing the system checks but theres still an issue... normally a relay not switching.
Really a diagnostic session is in order to put an accurate finger on whats wrong.
That's diesel knock then and not good. Does it start okay or does it need a bit of cranking? Were the injectors tested prior to installation? What's the fuel pressure like on diags?

Any idea what for? I thought "track group ltd" was a track day support and experience company not vehicle prep.
What I don't understand (and im not trying to rub salt in any wounds or to stir) is how you can take your vehicle to a company (in this instance "TDF" ) and have Matt design and build...
I've just uninstalled it from my Note2 as its slow and kept crashing. Sent numerous bug reports so I've done my part... back to TTHD which works fine altgough I may try it again next week on my S4
The ECU manages the running of the engine (fuelling and ignition). To do this correctly it needs to know a few variables such as load, air temp, engine temp, etc to correctly work out what math to throw in so it puts a smile on your face when you hit the go pedal.
Ugive it Incorrect sensor...
It could also be related to the speedo cable on a Mk1. Start by carrying out some basic service checks like does the throttle cable seem stiff, are the wires from the TPS in good condition, PAS pressure switch wiring okay, IACV clean and wiring okay?
Regards the speedo sensor its on the...
"Drive it and see if it improves" translates to "mate, take your car and f**k off"
Either there's another issue with your suspension/geometery/steering or they've fekked up the job. Hard to say without seeing the actual vehicle though.

Yes but you can't have it as its for my R19. Honestly, your best bet is either a full rebuild on yours or buy a JC5 unit from either a phase 1 172 or 172 Cup as these both have sensor driven speedo drives.
