That's what I thought, red or black. Only two options.
Silver car, silver wheels, bit of contrast is sweet. So red'll do nicely.
Someone at work is going to build me brackets for free, fortunately I'm competent in CAD, so I'll be designing cardboard templates etc, then drawing it up myself...
Yeah fair enough, I suppose there's too many dodgy types in the north for it to be unheard of. Around here I could write it in marker pen and the old bill would think it's fine.
Dude, seriously, it's no different to swapping panels about. If you officially scrap RACK, then swap the chassis from one to another I'm sure you'd be fine. Are they removable plates on them? If so, crack on.
Drill out whatever, rivet it back on, cover your hands in grease and s**t, and smear...
Can you not just swap the chassis numbers? I mean, it's more your old car than it is rack?
Engine changes normally = dolla no?
You've got some balls doing that kinda journey by public transport mate, sod that.
LOL! They are STUPID, but as long as I can make them fit they'll go on.
I'll be buying the rebuild kit for them, rebuilding them and then re-painting and brembo logo'ing them.
I think Red, everyone disagrees, opinions? Black just seems boring.
Hmmm, I'd get that hub nut sorted too whilst it's at the welder then mate, get him to weld a nut to it or similar so you can wind it off.
Why aren't you going to use the original plates? What did I miss?
Just read right through, great work!
Awesome work mate, had a skim last night about to read through and catch up.
You still got the hub nut issue or is that solved? If it really does persist, grind two sides dead flat then wang a nice big spanner on it.
Yeah I won't bother with //M bumpers, but the facelift is nice.
TBH when I look at picture of mine, the normal bumper does look good, I'm just not happy with the finish.
Yep that's the one mate, considering splitting it down and selling to buy a facelift bumper though, I'm an idiot I know.
I'll probs get that one on first TBH, sell the one I take off, as mine is a let down.
Do they do a shorter gear knob? It's a very similar centre console to the z4, and fitting a weighted short //M gear knob made a huge improvement to how it felt to drive.
No dyson? Lazy b*****d.
There's been hundreds if not thousands of reports of lots of SSD's just stopping working.
HDD's do fail yes, but from what I've heard the risk is higher with SSD's but as Tom says it may be older ones?
Seb, time machine is just the apple backup, but it's awesome.
Plug in an empty HDD...
The diff is, well, that's if it is what it is. TBH I got the diff for bottom dollar and it's only done 47k.
I've got a rotation squeak/vibration coming from the passenger rear wheel. Proper weird noise. Oh and the handbrake has broken somewhere along the way, which is a QUENT on the z4...
Nope, BMW standard differential. *sigh*
Not 100% sure it's the problem yet, but it was the only correct one for sale ANYWHERE (all diff's are different ratio's), so I bought it before someone else did.
Well that's always good to hear (Re: the bumper). I'm sure we can sort something out...
That's an awesome difference, are you not worried about the SSD failures people have been having? Lots of reports about.
I'd be running time machine weekly just in case, which is what I might do. Time machine + SSD
OK, so the car's broken at the moment, but parts I bought for it before it decided to be a tosser are arriving, wonderful.
Brembo's have just arrived, they are HUGE. Like monumentally huge, they'll look amazing under the 18's. I'll get a picture in a bit.
New front bumper is sitting at...
Ride quality is a little crash, sure, but the handling is actually alright. Doing 90 around a bumpy corner might be a bit hairy, but other than that they're a decent solution to getting a car low on springs.
I'd pay 2k for that, no more though.
2.5 is big money for a ph1 now, it doesn't matter TOO much about mileage, but it looks really tidy too. Lovely iceberg right there for someone and I'd 100% buy it if I was in the market, even if it needed belts doing I probably would, as long as the...
