Tried a bit of vibration absorbing foam between the headunit and the faceplate - no joy, the buttons still vibrate. Im considering dismantling the headunit to see if it can be fixed.

Mine did it.Simple solution was a bit of fabric tape on the back of the face plate.
As to dampen or to soften the contact between the faceplate and the actual headunit?
Ill give that a try.
Sheesh, not even the great and self-proclaiming best in car audio can make a rattle free product.
Im thinking if i can get in behind the buttons that i might be able to put a little dod of silicon sealant that will stay soft and (hopefully) kill any vibrations.
Thinking I was buying a piece of well built kit, got the Alping 9851R headunit and stalk/display adaptors fitted this afternoon. Was a quick job, fits the dash perfectly, amber illumination looks brilliant in the dark.
I took the car for a spin and to my sheer frustration, I found the buttons...
Well the Incartec one works pretty well indeed, it doesnt display the current radio station or the track number but it displays volume up/down, track change up/down and i saw it displaying something else. The steering stalk also works perfectly.
Dont think its worth double the money for the...
Been down to Halfrauds and theyll phone Alpine in the morning regarding the two above part numbers.
In other investigations, I checked the InCarTec website and found http://www.incartec.co.uk/Resources/Steeringcontrols_Renault.pdfthis. It looks like the one I ordered (28-652) has the yellow...
Ah b****cks, ill send it back then - know of a stockist for the KCE-940B?
I cant see it listed on alpine-europe.com, just 840B related kit. Ill make do without the KCE-940B in the meantime then, the display isnt hugely important.
Is that a "no", i dont have to take the dash off?
Excellent, as long as i can get it all up and running without taking the dash off.
(speakers to come later once i decide which ones to get, then the dash comes off).

Is it still a "dash off" job for the necessary gubbins, or can I fit this headunit and the stalk/display adaptors without ripping the dash off?
(itll probably need to come off anyway)
Ok, what about http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3850&tab=2this
It still has amber illumination (dont wanna mess up the colouring of the dash of course) and it states:

# OEM Steering Remote Read
Therefore, I presume this...
Searched the ICE/interior forums and noticed threads on the display not working with aftermarket HUs.
My simple question is this:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3844This headunit, necessary adaptors - anyone know if the display still lists tracks/volumes as...
My mate has an A3 1.8T.
Its got very nice and even power delivery, better power low down than my 182 but its running out of puff at 6000 rpm. Its not a slouch, but its not that fast either. It feels heavy and it rolls a lot amount in corners and on roundabouts.
Its more of a quiet...

I think the top gear times for both cars are 1.32.8 for the Focus RS and 1.33.8 for the 182, so theres not a lot in it for track times.
I love both cars.
Is it not 1 years manufacturers warranty + 2 years dealership warranty?
Perhaps theyre referring to the dealership warranty only.
As for the service charge, my mate was £175 for a 172 on its first service. I would have reckoned about £150-ish depending on what dealer.

Im going to buy http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3844&osCsid=6561b8a3e36cdf4ba68fc46d8b45f5f2this and the stalk/display adaptor.
So no dash removal necessary.
