That's mental. Still, it's not like you've got a commute etc to worry about.
It looks proper nice though mate, and you'll finally build up your left arm too ;)
Not actually sure how I missed this but it looks mint. Perfect spec mate, well in.
Genuine question though, how on earth have Renault managed to achieve worse MPG than I get from the 3.0???? Like seriously, how is that even possible???
Depends where you want to take it from? Radio etc?
Easiest way is to buy a cheap meter, one pin on an earth and then just test the other wise.
You'll find permenant lives, discount those, then check any with no power whilst flicking the ignition on and off. Very easy.
Get o.z superleg's or ultralegs, one of them is really light, can't remember which. f0xy had a post about the weight of his recently.
With good tyres you can get them down to something silly and they won't break the bank.
I'd buy a second hand set and have them refurbished to look new, saving...
That looks f**king mint. A proper credit to you Kev. (Well it shows you're a proper anal b*****d). Shame the pictures are a bit pony though (sorry).
It's such a shame to get rid but I can see why.
TBH I went from fun to boring and exec spec, then went for a bit of both, I bet you'll do the same.
A powder one could have dramatically controlled the fire yes.
There would still be damage, but fire burning for a long time creates a lot more damage than a flash flame.
What about the wheels they put on TT's etc? The 18" RS4's?
Or the newer audi style wheel?
Personally I'd go for the wheels on the LCR as they are seriously nice, but as you said, they're ££££
My honest suggestion:
Take a wheel off, put a bolt through the hole and put the spacer against the back of the wheel and put the bolt through that too.
If you're happy with the amount of thread left over being the only thing connecting your wheel to the car, go ahead.
Re: 172 in a mk1, Superfastdan's very very long project....
Make it to Wales and I'll buy you a cider. Keep us updated. (like with actual pictures and s**t)
P.s I'm surprised you managed to make such a tidy and comprehensive thread, impressed with the computer skills.
Can you get a picture of the shaft? As Danny says, if the joint is detachable/replacable then it's fine. I'd personally take it out of the GB just because it'd be so much easier to work on.
THE best option is just to get a whole new/second hand shaft though.
It's a bit late in the day but for me:
Buy new wing off and door in the right colour (including mirror) off here, normally about 900 available so shouldn't be hard to find.
Fit these, sand the front bumper back yourself and get it smooth.
Take it to a bodyshop and get them to blow the...
Well done mate and a cracking write up as usual.
Finally everything went OK, I literally read the whole thing waiting for something to happen.
Free tickets you say?
One side of the box is a wet side, the other dry, passenger side wet, drivers side dry.
If it's the drivers side it's properly easy, if it's the passenger side you need to take the plug out of the gearbox and fill it again, not exactly rocket science either.
Exactly right on the rear disc...
A shaft in perfect condition (with ABS ring etc) should be about £50.
Make sure it comes off the correct car as they all vary ever so slightly, so if you have a mk2 ph2 172 etc, make sure it's off a car that's the same.
The rear wheel bearings... these are pretty much pointless to replace...
My advice, just buy a decent second hand driveshaft off of here, much easier than trying to piss about changing the boot.
Do this first, if the noise is still there, get the wheel bearing done.
You can do both there, snow boarding and skiing, I ski'd last time, great fun.
I'd be more than up for another blast up there. Proper knackering day though.
Vicky - IMO you'd be better off on skis.
FYI you could pick up a 172/182 for about the same as the 1.2 equivalent if you can afford to insure it??
How old are you??
172 insurance gets reasonable about 20.
I love the mini though, that looks awesome. I weally weally want to buy one some day.
