Easiest thing to do here, is get a tape measure and measure from turret to turret and the height, then ask your mate to do the same.

Reconditioned yes, but you'd struggle to ever tell. Give it a good going over before you leave the store, if you spot any defects, ask for another. Make sure you do a proper backup (not just sync) before taking the phone into store.

I'd say it's one of the drain channels being blocked. Get searching on here and you'll find details on how to check them etc.

Whilst I can see what you're saying.... I modified my 1.2 quite a lot, did most of the mods listed above, yes, it'll cost money but if it's done over time then it's not going to break the bank. If he keeps the originals, almost everything above can be resold when he comes to sell the car...
