I'm have BT fibre, I have a PS4, my PS4 is not near my router (probably about 7m, through walls) and I use a wireless connection; no issues here.
Maybe there is an issue with the wireless card in your PS4?
Go PC, console frame rate is really poor in places.
Also, there were lots of niggles to iron out and PC doesn't have the same patching restrictions as MS/Sony.
I was just gonna suggest using VMware Fusion or Parallels and ripping them in Windows using any Blu-Ray drive, but you've already sent that one back?

EDIT: And if you're not a pirate, then my method probably works out very expensive.
But, when you want to turn everything off, presumably you do a soft shutdown of the PC, so then when you've done that and press the button to turn off the peripherals, doesn't that turn the PC back on?
I've thought about doing something like this but never liked doing 'hard' shutdowns on stuff...
