did you use 3.9 ohm in all four connections?

just had a thought... if there was any sticky left on the ends of the resistors, would this cause an interference therefore leaving the lights to stay on? does the 'connection' take place at the bottom of the resistor or around the 'leg' of the resistor at all? any help much appreciated.
