"Problems" with the Renaultsport Clio 172

True....insuring in your own name is the way to go. Still can't believe people pay over a grand for insurance on 172/182s though...when I was in my early twenties I drove a crap, underpowered 1.4 escort lol

    Supra, or Clio 172? Hmmn...

Supra pretty reliable if looked after....if they go wrong though (turbo) your talking big bucks.

"Problems" with the Renaultsport Clio 172

I've had no problams with my 02 172 (touch wood) and it's a very cheap car to run. Brought outright - no finance £350 a year to insure 40/45mpg on the motorway Only problem is the 72k/5yr service coming up:(

Anybody else wish they'd left their car std

7k:eek: That's a lot! I modified my last car but just got bored of it.....there's always someone with more money and a 'better' car anyway so you end up chasing your tail and wasting money. Quite happy to leave my 172 as it is:D

    Best air filter for a 1.2 16v

Does seem to be the filter of choice on here but TBH K&N & Green panels are just as good.

Does an induction kit make a difference?

Loss of torque and a really lacklustre engine in the summer with an open kit BMC or Maxogen probably okay though.

to strut or not to strut!!

Cosmetic As I keep saying, the suspension turrets are so close to the bulkhead to make any difference.

Anybody else wish they'd left their car std

I sometimes wish I had something a bit more suited/quiet for motorway driving.....it's this which the 172/182 really doesn't do well at.

    Flame Red 172 or CUP

    ITG vs PiperX

Can't go wrong with ITG, K&N or Green panel filters
  19. Neil G

    Question re panel filters

K&N and Green panels just as good....cheaper too

Just built myself a custom cold air induction kit

Would be much better getting a cone and securing that behind the foglight in the wheel arch area and using mesh over the foglight to let air through but to stop debris/stones. Pretty different though

    Hiya

2002 cars are going to need cambelts this year so worth factoring in when you haggle for a lower price.

  27. Neil G

    the 197 letter in evo..

Apparently not well spaced though. Never going to buy one anyway even though I do love the look of them...I'll just stick with the cheap a** 172 for now.
  28. Neil G

    air filter or induction kit??

The BMC is good but much more ££££s than the panel
  29. Neil G

    air filter or induction kit??

K&Ns are good along with Green and ITG I've got a Green panel in my 172 which is pretty similar to the K&N....I chose it due to reccomendations from friends who run/tune Subarus and use them frequently without problems. Also cheaper than ITG:D
