Not the same, but for example, my exhaust cam spun after a garage changed the belts. I had fitted CATCAM 421s which were used, and because the stud was had shrunk slightly, and even though the nut was torqued up correctly, it loosened off and spun :(
Granted, but as with anything man made there are manufacturing tolerances. In any batch run they would only test small volumes, so it's hard to tell. Maybe the bolts were too short or didn't have enough girth ;) . Again, just playing devils advocate really (plus i've got some fitted, so hoping...
I had a feeling it was that one. Really appreciate that James, saves me a lot of faffing. I wasn't getting much/if any power across the terminals, so the main feed might be dodgy. I'll just have to wait for a reasonable day to get out and do some searching (bloody NW weather). Oh and put the...
Head , cams and sump look ok from what I can see James. They look like catcams. Have a look on the shaft and there will be a number which is dotted on. This will tell you if you have the correct ones. It's a 6 digit number starting with 5 and ending on 421.
Did the valves not bend (Piccy from...
Might be three come to think of it. Flywheel end where you're pointing on your pic. The socket needs to go through a hole to get to the nut.I didn't have a narrow e-torx socket so had to hammer on a long narrow socket instead :)
Yeah the sump bolts are rubbish and made of butter. Plus there are two which are a pain to do/undo unless you've got the right tool. They use the same bolts for the water pump too iirc :(
This tbh. Granted you need the money to buy them in the first place, but second hand is the way to go. Only 1 of my lenses is new (35mm 1.8) because second hand it made little to no difference. I just bought a 28-70mm 2.8 nikkor, which is an old lense now and had been superseded by the 24-70mm...
Starter is fine, but it looks like the small wire to the solenoid is buggered. Intermittent voltage when attempting to crank. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for which relay this goes to before I start disturbing the loom :(
I got the nikkor 70-300mm on my d7000, so as Dan mentioned its effectively 105-450mm on a dx camera. It's a good lense, but trying to get a decent shot at 300mm is hard without a pod from what I've found. Depends what you're shooing though
Which car be that? The Clio is turbo'd I assume ;) I understand that gearing to suit the optimal torque/bhp is the best method, but gearbox options aren't brilliant for the N/A Clio afaik. Although if you have suggestions.... :D
I'd turn it over once every couple of weeks in the event that moisture gets
into the bores. My piston rings rusted and damaged mine. Either that or put some oil down the spark plug holes.
Fair enough mate. Custom did your cage iirc?
Had Fred given you potential engine spec options yet? Like you said, peak performance isn't key. Torque wins races mate ;)
