    IIRC there isn't much he can do apart from the windows with regards to weight up top? Unless he's feeling flush and puts fibre glass panels all round :) Roof is a no no though afaik.

    surely that's the issue with any regs are they are open to interpretation. I would assume if they are classed as beyond the regs you can revert back?

    Belt might be ok to re use, but for the price i'd just stick a new one on. I assume they changed the KIT and not just the belt? I'd go and see a specialist on here if you are unsure.

    Define decent garage. Are they familiar with these engines? Do they have all three tools? I'd get them to check the timing. You will be able to tell straight away.

    Get the timing checked by the garage. Would take about 10min to do. All they need is new cam seals. At the end of the day if you pay the money you have (assuming it was in the £500 region), I would expect it right.

    Sounds a little suspect mate. You should be getting 40mpg sat at 70mph. How does it drive?

    Easy to change physically, but the need programming to your car iirc. That means using clip. Easy though. Drop MicKPM a message
