SRS? That sounds a bit, pikey?
Don't worry, I wasn't actually going to do that!
This, I would only get adapters if I needed spacers. If the ET is correct, I'll get them redrilled.
Need a welder, I'm scouring eBay at the moment, but yeah the plan is to strip it down completely.
If I can find chassis rotisserie, I'll buy it, use it and sell it. Problem is, most of them go for a grand, and are not designed to fit the E21 chassis, also that's a lot to stump up for a tool...
Yeah that's fair enough, it wasn't aimed directly at you, we've talked about which is best and all that, now I want to move on and carry on with the car.
:)
Out of all the tripe you've spouted in here, this is the only thing worth listening to.
I'll be doing exactly this, sorting the car and if wheels come up that I want, then I'll get them.
Yeah, when I signed up to the BMW GB car club, the guy was saying things like, yeah we love restoration and we love original examples.
He even said he had turned people away because he felt they weren't right for the club.
Snobbery at its worst!
Worth it for the discounts though, hopefully.
Just been onto Retro Rides.
Totally off the point, but I saw these for sale:
Trans Am Turbo Alloys.
Reportedly the only set in the UK. Pretty nice tbh, and not tooooo expensive at £500 asking price.
I doubt I'll bother though, as I've got ages until wheels are important.
If we did it at speedkarting in Warrington, you'd moan that the racing was s**t and poorly run, because it is.
PPiK offers some truly awesome racing, on a brilliant track.
It's a bit further for you guys, granted, but we're not exactly starting at 7am!
As always, the Manchester lot would...
Yeah, they're really nice Ash.
I would prefer splits, for no other reason other than customisation purposes, but it's by no means my first priority with wheels.
Still trying to source a decent priced welder on eBay!
If I worked there, and then bought a new car and was told I couldn't have it parked up even for a day, then I would be annoyed that someone else was able to and I was being told no.
But if someone did it for a fortnight, while I was driving my "not new" car, I wouldn't really care that much...
Not at all.
They probably didn't expect their staff to be so pathetic.
If they said, "yeah you can park it here indefinitely, crack on" then yeah, they're making a mistake.
Allowing it for a week or two is a compromise.
The person at the top agreed to the car being there for a short time.
Then their staff kicked up a stink, probably based on jealousy.
So the person at the top had to make a choice, and like any manager they picked the happiness of the masses over that of the individual.
Yeah, ultimately it's pathetic behaviour.
I can imagine it creates a pretty frosty atmosphere too :(
Some people just can't deal with others having something they don't.
That's a joke.
Hand on heart, I would start looking elsewhere and then tell them to stick it up their arse.
Laura, is there a single car in the staff carpark that isn't from the VW Audi Group?
I'm not going for a 'BBS car' btw.
I'm looking at Compmotives, Zenders, Autostradas, Porsche wheels and even TVR wheels.
I'll buy what looks right on the car.
If I want 15" in 8 & 9J they can get to silly money, but yeah, not all of them go for that.
Likelihood is I'm going to have to go for something narrower.
Not a chance in hell am I putting anything bigger on, 16's and upwards look stupid.
I won't rush it.
I also won't wait 3 years for some wheels.
The car needs:
- Welding.
- Painting.
- Some engine maintenance.
- Interior.
- Exhaust.
- Re-undersealing.
They're the main points atm, that's not including the hundreds of other bits like powdercoating the...
In all honesty, I'm not interested in who loves me or the car.
If I'm the only person on the planet who likes it, then fine, as long as I like it.
If some RS's/Whatever come up for sale at a reasonable price, then I'll have them.
What I won't do is pay ludicrous scene tax on them, bargains...
