Those of you who know how to weld...
Will this suffice for general repair work on the BM?

I know I'll need to practise, but the machine itself, will it be able do what I need it to?
It says it can do up to 4mm mild...
I'll cost it up I think.
Ultimately, it's a 316. I don't want to pour thousands upon thousands of pounds into a car that will only ever be worth £4,000 or so when fully restored.
Ideally, I need to learn to weld.
That would allow me to keep the cost right down.
I can get a crane, I can even get a chassis roller, but it's more the monumental workload!
The entire underside is Waxoyled, so it would take weeks to remove all that alone!
And as said, it will be mainly done on my driveway. I could possibly move the car to my dads though, where he has a...
That's the plan. The entire interior is coming out, and anything that is rotton is getting cut out and welded.
Any small patches of surface rust will be treated with Bilt Hamber De-ox.
While the interior is out, I might be tempted to give it some paint, we'll see.
Yep, Topazbraun Metallic.
Also, the BBS bodykit that will be with me next week (photos are from the seller):
Looking forward to getting some work done on them :)
Yeah, I'm going to get the rest of the interior out and inspect everything, once I've located any holes/corrosion, I will get a quote for it to be cut out, and new metal welded in.
Hopefully won't be too expensive!
No idea what that is!
The car will be getting resprayed anyway, so it's not...
That was easily one of the funniest things I've seen.
"ohhh the bolt is out" - drop the breaker bar on Rhys's face.
Okay, so progress was made tonight. The plan was to strip the dash and trim out of the front, and hopefully find the source of the water on the drivers side floor.
Got the...
A genuine BBS front bumper is worth about as much as I'm paying for the kit ;)
So I shouldn't lose money on it.
Yeah, the side skirts are what I'm struggling with.
I might just have the front bumper and sell the rest. We'll see.
The front bumper is damaged and needs some small fibreglass repair work, something I should be able to do myself.
The kit will then need spraying, as it's currently silver.
I'll test fit it once repaired, then spray it. It won't be final fitted until the bodywork is done though, which will be...
Not that cheap Joe.
I know, it might look crap, it might not.
They look decent on some E21's, poor on others.
Like I say, it shouldn't be too hard to move it on if it looks awful.
Exactly, cars of that era had silly bodykits, and it's a genuine BBS kit too.
I'll get it, spray it, get it fitted and if it looks a sack of balls, I'll whack it on eBay.
A full BBS bodykit has come up for sale on E21.net, and I really can't decide if I like it or not?
Opinions?...
At the very least I'm thinking about the front bumper, the current one looks awful!
Yeah, Blue Bell is probably best.
Taking the rest of the dashboard out tonight, and hopefully as much of the rest of the interior as possible.
Get it down to a bare shell, find the water leak/leaks and make it 100% water tight in there. Then I can refit what is staying/start sourcing the new...
