wanna run a cable from the engine bay into the cabin, had a gander but there insulation everywhere!
where is the best way to gain access through the bulkhead?

i just got a quote from elephant, they have beaten direct line by 200 quid, was paying 650 with D/L elephant want 444!!!!
know where ur coming from P1KKG! in 89 when I was 21, I had a 88 XR2 - I too was paying 1600!!!
use that tin of shaving foam they gave u - LOL.
hopefully if u do pop one it wont just be a repairable puncture, cos I think that foam renders the tyre unrepairable.

With Directline, I am sure I am getting stuffed - I have been with direct line since I bought a new AXGT in 90.

dippy stick is at the front of the engine, down towards the bowels.
i topped up with 10W40 magnatec
though I have got some tasty Elf semi 10w40 to stick in.
1700 miles is a bit too early to contemplate a full change yet.
I did the same in my XR2 messin about in a frozen carpark!
bent a chassis member, cost about 500 quid....back in 89!!:(
I hit a raised grid in mine, ever so slight scuff, new wheel for a 172 was "only" 116 quid (builders paid!!!)
dont think it will melt anything....id be more worried about the extra UV the lamps will give off - remember the front covers on the 172/Cup lights are Polycarbonate - and Polycarbonate dont like strong UV!
But for the amount of time ud actually have them on.....

I stink to high heaven of mixed fuels, my thumb aches.....but we stuck 20L of diesel back in, and after 2mins of heavy smoke....u would never...
