Is my 172 looking as fast as it should be? (vid)

Looks ok. If the cars warm, change up at about 6.5k. If the cars cold, the rev limit will be lower than usual.

Detailing in the Midlands anyone ?

Pm Jay. He's based near Birmingham, detailed my monaco 172, great results. He'll show you where they remodelled his garage so he could fit a vee in!!

Can you see the accessory/Aux belt on 182?

Yep, you can see the belt, pulley, tensioner from underneath.

Aux belt still unchanged at 57,000 miles - is this common?

I think it was changed to an inspectioin rather than a def change. Stupid IMO. You're coming up to cambelt time, so I'd bite the bullet and get them both done, Birchdown are only an hour from you. www.birchdown.com

Can you see the accessory/Aux belt on 182?

Yes you can see the belt. IIRC, it will need the aux belt done as part of the service. I had mine changed recently, due to a faulty tensioner, approx £175.

PX offered, 197 for mk1 V6, advice needed

I don't see ph1 vee prices holding up as well as ph2's. If I was in the market for a vee, I wouldn't even consider a ph1.

PX offered, 197 for mk1 V6, advice needed

10-15% worse. Ave 27-28mpg from what I've read from owners.

looks like this is where the problems start ffs! help please

No idea on cost. Have a search in the guide section, try adjusting the switch first, might be fixable that way.

looks like this is where the problems start ffs! help please

Yep, the cruise is de-activated by touching the brake pedal, if the switch is broken, this happens.

looks like this is where the problems start ffs! help please

Brake switch, behind the brake pedal. Mine went, was replaced under warranty. Not a big/hard job, I think you could just try adjusting it (look in the guide's section)

    182 cup or 182 trophy...?

I maintain, that as a standard road car, no hot hatch has bettered the Trophy. My non standard car is better in some circumstances, but not as a road car. I'm aiming to buy another at the end of the year, so I can push mine more towards being just a track car.

    182 cup or 182 trophy...?

I had a 182cup, they can be picked up cheap, but if doing serious changes (coilovers etc) then a 182 has zero benefits over a 172.
  22. ForceIndia

    182 cup or 182 trophy...?

About 1-1.5k more than a 182, they do hold there value better. I'd say 6k would get you into a decent one by the end of the year.

    Exterior bits for a 1*2

Pretty sure the standard splitter is more like £140. The carbon fibre one's are cheaper than standard.

Few questions regarding performance & 172/182 differences

Not worth it. I've had a 182 and a ph1 172 (and ph2 lol). The ph1 feels slightly quicker than the 182, probably due to different gear ratios and lighter weight. I'd only go as far as matched inlets and a remap (rstuner is the cheapest way to get a custom map), and poss an exhaust. Wouldn't...
