    197 v 182 v 172

Can of worms, really not much in it. At Bedford I was catching the 197 R27, but I'm on AST coilovers and Toyo R888's so I'd be dissapointed if I wasn't a little bit quicker. The 197 owner refused to believe that an older car could be quicker, so I didn't go near that conversation! 197's far...

BP ULTIMATE 102 RON (couldn't resist)

That car had been mapped for the higher octane fuel. So it would show an improvment. As said, to get any significant power out would require a remap, a pointless fuel unless you have the mapping for it. FFS if 105 octane has no significant effect, how is 102 going to be better?

    Decat & trackday noise limits

At bedford the drive by is the one to worry about. The R400's were fine, so I can't see 99% of clios having a problem.

BP ULTIMATE 102 RON (couldn't resist)

    I very much doubt it.

BP ULTIMATE 102 RON (couldn't resist)

EVO ran a fuel test few years ago. In the (turbo) golf gti, 105octane fuel gave 6 bhp more than BP ultimate, 4lbft less torque. In the M5 (NA 5l)it gave less power and torque than Ultimate/Optimax. You expected to feel a difference, so you felt one. Placebo effect. Unless of course the 197 has...

BP ULTIMATE 102 RON (couldn't resist)

Won't have a significant effect, the 197's mapped for 98, so will run best on 98/99.

Dead easy, pair of pliers, yank.

    Decat & trackday noise limits

TBH at most days I've done, they haven't even bothered testing me, just get the passed sticker. They tend to just let me through, as they can't even tell the Clio's on when it's parked next to a TVR/Caterham

    Recaros/182 questions.

Driving position is only 10mm lower, hardly noticeable. They are better, just not enough given the money.

    Recaros/182 questions.

PS don't lisen to AR Ewing, he's made billions from Texan oilfields, his brother Bobby doesn't rate the Recaro's IIRC.

    Recaros/182 questions.

As said, having had both, Trendlines are great seats, but the driving position is still woeful. Misano's are more comfortable, better driving position, about half the price. If the Recaro's were lower, they would still be less comfy than the Misano's.

    Recaros/182 questions.

Chris is small enough to get in the back without recliners.
  14. ForceIndia

    Recaros/182 questions.

Had both. The Recaro's are very comfy, but the driving position is too high. And they are an utter rip off at full price. Daytona's aren't as comfy, but the driving position is much better (lower), but they do look very cheap compared to the recaro's (and misano's). You can get a set of...

    Pic Request: What Buckets?!

Pole positions are great, very comfy (sat in some when I was choosing mine), but no better worse than seats from cobra etc that are a lot cheaper.

Like it except the bonnet, looks out of place and cheap.

    Track / road car

Why? I've been told by several people not to use a cage'd car on the road, normally the hard points in a car are covered (to lessen impact if your head smacks them in a crash).

    Track / road car

Would you put cage above brakes, suspension, seats? I've got it down as one of the last things to do.

Knows it. Not criticising the R27, just blown away by the R26.

    Track / road car

Was at Bedford (wet) and the R26 was destroying the R27, I had no idea they had so much traction. Destroyed me as well. Was surprised by how much.

    Track / road car

True, good vid of him pulling away from a 172 on an airfield day. Think he said he was lapping the ring quicker than most of the 172's as well.

How hard is it to replace the clutch cable in a 172FF ?

Same for ph1's Fred? If so my hayne's manual should have pics etc.

    Track / road car

For once, can't fault the monkeys logic. Took mine (not standard) out at bedford and embarissed some far more expensive machinery.

    Or a 50k 172 for 2.5k, even better ;)
