Pretty much this mate, if your car is stripped it will lack any bass and the music will sound pretty crap! The amplifier is loud enough for me, and is more powerful than your average stereo!

Have you taken them out and checked they are plugged in? This may sound like a stupid suggestion but the previous owner could have had aftermarket ones in then not connected the old ones back up
