In my first post I meant did you have the radio on to see if it cut out etc because if you have a bad earth your lights will flicker and stereo may break up/switch off. Switching it off wouldn't effect if the lights come on or not!

Does it do it when idling? Earth is near the radiator I think, it's easy to find anyway just follow it from the battery. I would also check all the connections on the alternator. Did it effect the running on the engine at all?

Sounds like a bad earth, did you have your stereo on at the same time? And if you did was there any effect on that?

Good point about the mileage. The other option is to put the turbo out of a tce on yours, but I'm sure it would cost farfar less to just upgrade to a tce. (Someone on here has one running 166bhp). You would not be able to get any extra power out of your current engine any other way, exhaust...

Depends what mk gti you want, and which model (different power outputs) as mk4's aren't much more expensive than a clio to insure.

How would you be able to see a difference in graphics? Of course they are going to look the same as what they are now, you was watching it on a 360 after all... (With a 8 year old graphics chyp + engine)
