There were some frightening things I found on it. The way the fan had been wired in was a fire waiting to happen. Cam timing was miles out too.

I think it's more wiring related, as the pedal has been changed already, so it suggests it has had a fault before :)

It's quite common for abs sensors to pick up a load of crap when discs are changed, giving them off signals. Try cleaning off the ABS sensors, and checking the rings aren't cracked. And of you changed the rears, if they weren't genuine, check the abs ring is the same as the old one.

They're starting to crack oil scraper rings and blow turbos up, if you get one with a new turbo, make sure it doesn't smoke.

I discovered last week that since clip has been updated, they've removed programming on the immobiliser for ph1's. You can buy the keys pre-programmed with new blade direct from Renault for ~£150

Need a bit more info (what's the engine in! Lol. As some are locked etc) but you'd be looking around £275 :)

1.9pd engines are epic. 2.0tdi's are utter shite.

How long had the engine been stood for before you bought it/ran it?

Chips turbo is running more than that, and regularly runs very sticky tyres

7 hours?! You're looking closer to 12 for a replacement. Also you'll be hard pushed to find a garage that Charges that little labour. I'm at £45/hr.

Cheaper to buy another engine.

If it's breathing then it's knackered rings. I took one apart today that the oil scraper ring just fell apart when I popped the piston out the bore.

Where did you buy the replacement? Did you replace the oil feed and return lines?

It could also be the sleeve on the driveshaft.

You can't use the cheaper one. It's about £126 now.

It will have a plaque on it if it's a milltek.

Tony is on one of my favourite fast road setups. Induction kit, decat back exhaust, 197 cams, with ARP rod bolts. And mapped to suit. Standard pricing is £610 for an air con vehicle to have the belts replaced with dephaser. £100 to install and time the cams up properly, £250 to remap it...

Afaik the r26r still had a DMF? I thought it was a myth that it didn't?

DMF was the cause of the last one I had in.
