Hi Mark...there is a huge range of variation in the services provided by detailers, from a simple wash and seal to full-blown 100% correction and ceramic coating.
Even a minor single-stage correction will be a million miles better than what you have now and will come in less than £500.
Give...
Does such a thing exist for a mk2? My lock is becoming increasing stiff to turn and I'm paranoid about snapping a key. Also it's a faff to unlock every time you fill up, and frankly stealing petrol is at the bottom of my list of worries!
Yes very fair. I'm not typical of Joe Public in that I don't see my Clio as simply a cheap car, but rather a pride+joy that I'm happy to spend money on to keep tip top. The car my Clio replaced was worth more than 5x the value of my Clio, but the Clio gives me equal pleasure. The fact that it's...
I don't think it's realistic to expect to find a car that's 16-20 years old requiring no extra spend.
I always budget for remedial work on every car I buy, and I only buy good ones. I bought my 182 at the very top of the market a year ago and I've put an extra £2k into it, not just fixing minor...
What are folks using for wheels these days?
I've tried C5 a few times but the amount of prep it needs is a hassle. I've tried a nano spray which works quite well and is easy to apply. Anything out there that offers better protection but is quick and simple?
Must be an older-guy thing. I have no photos either of any of my cars and it baffles me every time people ask to see photos. You know what they look like and if you don't, there are loads of photos on the internet!
If your shocks are more than 40k miles old then change them. Cup vs non Cup differences are minimal - in fact I doubt most people could tell. Springs will make a big difference.
Yes the PS4S is now available in 225/40/18 though not sure if stocks are available. Kwik Fit had a batch in but quickly sold out.
You can also get PSS and Cup 2 in 225/40/18. 225 is a perfect fit for 7.5J rims.
DS2500 and (at least in my experience of older versions) EBC Yellow are wooden pads at their best.
Get a set of new discs and PBS Prorace for £180 or so. Bed them in properly and if there’s still an issue then you have a problem somewhere.
The rear spring rate on any coilover is too stiff for the road imo. As there is so little weight at the back, the rear spring rate makes a huge difference to compliance on the road.
On the other hand a stiffer front helps with turn-in as does camber/castor adjustment. On standard struts and...
Cancelled yesterday and got my call today:
£37 for M500 broadband without SIM
£41 for M500 and 15Gb SIM
£31 for M350 without SIM
£35 for M350 and 15Gb SIM
Bilt-Hamber Dynax UB (dark coloured) or UC (clear) works well and comes in aerosols which are really easy to use. I've heard good things about Lanoguard but haven't tried it myself.
To a certain extent yes, but it's more about the audience moving away from forums such as these...still lots of cars for sale on other platforms.
At least traffic to other parts of this forum is still healthy.
I do wonder how useful it would be to advertise on here. It seems most people on...
That's a good point - in a Clio you will hit the top of 3rd at Druids but there isn't enough time to change up and down again for Graham Hill, so a larger wheel/tyre would certainly help in that particular instance.
215/45/17 is 7.4% greater circumference compared with the standard 195/45/16 fitment and 8.6% more circumference compard with 195/50/15. So you effectively raise the gearing of your car, adding top speed (not exactly a Clio's forte anyway) at the expense of acceleration, which will be further...
Don’t worry about whether it’s a Cup packed car or even 172 vs 182. Differences were relatively minor when new, far outweighed by the difference in condition of individual cars today. Just go for the best example you can find.
If you don’t like Turinis you could easily sell them and acquire...
I would have imagined that if your MR2 was too soft for the road it would have been too soft for the track. Usually it's the other way around - cars tuned for track are too stiff for the road.
The lack of confidence may have been due to mid-engined layout - an MR2 is not a car to dance on the...
Would be interested in any further feedback on why the MR2 didn't fit the bill...specifically why it was great on track but not on road. That would be useful to help frame any comments about Clios.
As you don't do a lot of motorways OP I would have expected a car that's good on track to also be...
I'd ask for some underbonnet and interior pics. MoT history checks out. Assuming the car is as described it's worth £2,9k, but the seller is evidently open to a cheeky offer as well.
Mine's on 140k and feels good for 140k more. As long as the maintenance and condition check out, mileage means nothing. Just don't expect it to gain much value in future years.
£2,900 doesn't seem unreasonable if the car needs little to no work.
