Fair doos! I think basically it doesn't matter, as long as your callipers aren't completely caked in s**t. You'll be fine. May as well do a thorough job of cleaning them though. Can't do any harm.

It doesn't specifically say something that doesn't leave a residue... But there's solvent cleaners that leave very little residue. It actually says 'remove grease with hammerite brush cleaner'.

I'm sitting here with the hammerite can in front of me. So follow my original suggestion. - wire brush - wash them with water - brake cleaner / carb cleaner / paint thinner etc etc. Any solvent cleaner that doesn't leave a residue. - spray with hammerite.

To be fair, if you've got a cage etc... And it looks like it spends time on track then it may look ok. But as said, it needs to have some meaning. There's a fiesta st round the corner from me, it's very nicely modified, but the dickhead has put a massive name and number with a British flag next...
