    ICE advice for a rookie

You don't need a sub if you've got some decent, well installed components. All it will do is allow people outside to hear your music as well.

    PMSL

The rear arches are a disgrace.

    V6 Replica lol

The wheels are set about 6 feet into the arches.... And how embarrassing when you get smoked by a pensioner in a jazz!

    ICE advice for a rookie

On a budget, your best bet is to get a head unit, and an amp to run some front components, then spend money on fitting them properly.... Sound deadening and sealing. You'll get good sound quality and more bass than you could imagine out of some well fitted door speakers. 90% of a good sound...

It doesn't mention sizes at all on the black ones??

    Boot Build

^^ it's very difficult if you've never done any sort of build before. Also, calculations using pi will only be accurate if the enclosure is a perfect cylinder, which it won't be.

Reckon this lot is a billy bloody bargain?

I'm pretty new to the detailing world, but I've just started buying some stuff and that looks like a whole lot of stuff for the money. Great deal.

    Boot Build

^^^^ you'd get more bass out of some decent component speakers than out of a poorly sealed sub. Plus it WILL break your sub. The more I think about it, the more I remember how horrifically difficult it was to do. Seriously, don't do it. Making a decent fibre glass enclosure is very difficult...

    Please Help!?!?

You'll amost certainly need an adaptor to link it to the steering wheel controls. Don't fancy wiring the sub yourself? I can give you Help as you go along... As can plenty of others on here.

Uprated pads on the rear but not front....

I'm not sure why this is.... They seem to be very good on some other marque's but just get slaughtered in Clio reviews.

    Standard backbox

How can anyone answer this??? Lol. Could be a write off from the doors forward and the back box might be brand new. I picked up a brand new full stainless system for a mates astra from a scrappy's once... They obviously didn't realise what it was as I got the whole £600 system for £40.

    Turn a 1.2 into a rep?

Rubbish! My insurance is £790 now at 21 with no NCB. At 17, insurance would have been £4500!!!

    project advice

There's plenty of group buys on here for track Clio stuff.... The Sabelt Clio cup steering wheel, carbon door cards etc etc. Bimarco seats FTW. They look amazing, hold very well but are comfortable and are a lot cheaper than equivalent quality seats. If I was buying a car for track, it would...

Uprated pads on the rear but not front....

EBC are probably worse than the oem pads. I haven't read anything good about them on here. The rear pads do literally FA. There is no point whatsoever in updating rear pads. Maybe you should just buy new fronts as well if you're desperate to upgrade your pads

    17 or 15 inch alloys?

Those wheels are terrible, but if you like them, definitely get 15's. 17's look ridiculous on Clio's.
  18. J

    Turn a 1.2 into a rep?

Even a second drivers your parents will save you a fortune. Doing a rep is a massive waste of money. It'll cost you twice what an actual RS would cost and be worth less money resale. Complete waste of money. You can make the smaller Clio's look pretty good with very little cash. Body coloured...

    what clio is this ?

Either a 200 cup or a FF 200 with cup packs. Around £16,000 and around £17,200 respectively IIRC

Just how bad are 182 gearboxes?

My cup is on 71,000 miles and the gearbox still feels fine... Yes, the throw is a tad long but it's not the end of the world. As said, it's the drivers that break gearboxes.

    Boot Build

^^^^^ agreed. Realistically, if you want to put it in the wheel well, you'll need to create a fibreglass shell for the enclosure so it will fit perfectly in the wheel well... This makes it very difficult to calculate the enclosure volume. Steve's suggestion of just making a standard enclosure...
