bit of a common theme in mine... starting in 2010 I was moving into the last of 3 years with my first fast car...
bought a ph1...
bought a runabout to save miles on the ph1, a DCi100...
got bored of fixing old cars and bought my first brand new car, GT DCi106..
got bored of hassle free...
Back bumper has a crack in it, been trying to find a replacement in white but it isn't easy! This ended up a cheaper way of going about it...
200k, MOT failure
off the top of my head no idea ill check it out tomorrow afternoon,
wouldn't the steering angle sensor have thrown up some warning if it had been 180 out for so long? I don't remember noticing a massively better turning circle one way than the other lol
It's 2x genuine Renault 182 track rods which my understanding is should be fine for a DCi rack on a 182.
That would make sense with being 180 out and possibly been like that since before I had it as I've never touched the rack on it!
I've never had it off just left all the van EPA's in place.
All That been off is the squib and steering wheel.
Is the limiting collar the plastic spacer that the track rod sits against when tight?
Currently I've got, wheel straight, wheels both tracked straight but only one turn left...
Nope 1 full turn left, 1.75 right.
I'm assuming it must have always been like that and I've never noticed before the engine conversion?! I didn't think there would be enough movement in the tie rods to correct that?!
Will get it up on a ramp for a play and see!
Been racking my brains and I can't work out where I've went wrong with this...
I've retained my vans original EPA's rack, it's not been removed neither has the subframe or column.
Because I'm running 182 widetrack I'm also running a pair of genuine track rods and rod ends.
I'm getting more...
Been offered a cheap dci100 with lost keys, I assume the only option is still a kit from another car with chip from key, uch and ECU?
Dci100 stuff is harder to find which means it's probably not going to be worth my while?
good clean up job! engine bay looks great!
I take it you work at that dealers? is it near Bristol? I was enquiring about a kangoo they had a few months back and looks similar
good to see so many RS cars on the list.
Loved my 182 Trophy but tbh trick dampers or no trick dampers my 220 Trophy would have decimated it over any typical british B road, I suppose that's just progress though!
not sure if all ph1 were the same but my early W reg one had a tape player with a 6 disc changer under the drivers seat.
Any TunerList cd player will work, just make sure its not an UpdateList (it will say on the bottom right hand corner of the face of the unit)
Cheers mate, looking forward to getting it on the road just really struggling with time, rear beam and fuel tank is all that's left in the way of big jobs then just a few wee bits to re visit and tidy up hoping to have it all done for the spring!
this was mine going back 15yrs now! was a fun little car, taught me a lot about driving a car quick as everything happens a lot slower than when your in a fast car lol
megane engine would cost much the same and be less hassle for 250-300hp
if you just want a turbo sell it and buy a 1.2 turbo one probably wont cost you much if anything to do the swap depending on the age/condition of your car.
TRW Performance do a turbo kit for that engine if your set on it a...
it appears the ones who know the least, get the most views from what I can see. And some of them are making some serious coin while doing it, unreal!
I thought this was an interesting watch, and I can only imagine how profitable it can be when your driving other peoples cars!
while he may not owe an explanation to anyone other than the guy who's car it was, surely if his business is something he enjoys/appreciates it would be worth working with the customer to find a resolution that works for him and customer, of course he's not going to turn round and say ok your...
I would leave it standard, the appeal of these cars is they are cheap fun.
When you buy one, boost it, fix it you are now at Mégane 250 money or more for somthing that's not as good!
theres 2 types of self employed people in my experience, Those who cam run a business and those who are too hopeless to work for a business, so choose to work for themselves. the 2nd lot always ends in fireworks.
Why do people on here always start with a good rep and end up the go to place then end up making a c**t of stuff? GDi, 519 automotive, Clio turbo etc etc
