Not sure, but my K-Tec sits 10mm from the rear bumper.
I dont want to cut the bumper in case I fit the standard exhaust back to the car before selling etc.
I find that the exhaust sounds far nicer once it has warmed up. When I first start the car, its audible but not a sporty note. Then once warmed up, it burbles nicely on tick over and then growls upon blipping the throttle :D
Makes me smile every time I change down through the geards blipping...
As for the poor quality comments, the fitter that fitted mine (bought 2nd hand from BenS) was most impressed with the quality of the system.
He said it would easily outlast the car!!
Bear in mind that the pics above are of the dirty tailpipes, but they are nice and clean now. BenS said it...
And 2 more images for you!

Rich,
It depends on the angle you look at the car from. If you stand directly behind the car, you cant see the back box, just the pipes.
If you crouch down, then yes you can see the box as well as the pipes.
I have the K-Tec Twin 3" on my 172.
Once the exhaust has warmed up, it has a nice burble on tick over. At 70mph on the motorway, it is very boomy. It is fine at 80mph tho :)
I love blipping the throttle on downchanges just to get the zorst noise :D
I would pester at EVERY opportunity.
Ask to speak to a higher person each time.
How long have you had the car? I guess, ultimately you could demand a refund as the car is not sold with standard spec.
Oi ya theiving scum, wheres my Xenons!?!?
Well ask them to check the headlights as they are not bright enough, then when they look at them, innocently say... "Shouldnt they be Xenons?"
Do you have the headlamp washers on the bumper?
Makes you wonder why theyve been swapped out?
Its not been front pranged has it and they replaced the headlamps with the cheaper non-xenon lamps?
Tbh, it sounds like the "normal" 172 engine/subframe knocking.
If youve not had it before, youre lucky.
I think most people on here have seen it / experienced it at some point.
Im looking at getting a new job, which comes with an Astra as the company car (no option on car or money, its astra only)
Ive only just purchased my 172 in Jan (it was regd March 03) so its only a year old.
Should I keep it or sell it? I paid £10,750 2months ago, so really dont want to sell...
