How can u tell if a valver has ABS other than stamping on the brakes!

Turns out the brakes were ok. Rear calipers were too tight! fronts where ok though. probly just some surface rust on the pads. However when they were test driving it, smoke poured from underneath the bonnet. They stopped and found a buffing pad that the bodyshop had left on the manifold! Feckin...
