    I was pulled over by police for a random check last night. One of the officers looked round the car with a flashlight and didn't notice the smaller plate.

    ^^ If they're like my Vmaxx (which look the same as Raceland to me) then they'll perform well against other types of coilovers.

    You've got two bolts connecting the suspension strut to the hub and it won't fit if you haven't got the correct spacing.

    Hub spacing is different, yours should be 52mm but all 172s are 54mm. Measure it as you might be lucky and have a 54mm spacing.

    Best front discs to use?

    Tarox G88 grooved discs are so much better than oem discs and I've never had any fade. If you don't track the car I'd get Brembo HCs.

    Engine and gearbox is probably strongest part. For £3k you'll get an average Ph2 or good Ph1. Make sure it's been serviced regularly and had the belts done.

    The internals and spring rates could be different. Only way to tell would be by trying them out on the road.

    Vmaxx, Ktec and Raceland coilovers look identical to me apart from a few cosmetic differences.

    Fancyplates.com, size is 520mm x 90mm to fit the front number plate recess but it isn't legal though.
