depends what sort of miles you do, i used to do about 1k a month at one point in my last 172 and didnt bother me, then got the dci and doing 1k a month in that costs me about £20, now i cant bare to take the 172 to work and back lol so just keep that for weekends!
obviously you would be mad to replace the work of art that is the k9k with one of they rough as a badgers arse F4R's however yes you would get £30 a year road tax and of course extremely cheap insurance because your clever and wouldnt declair it, £1500 dci clio spend £2k converting it thats an...
i had conti sport contacts on my last 172 and they nearly killed me a few times after being used to Eagle F1 GSD3's under steer city! i beleive Joe swapped them for eagle F1s too once he bought it and commented on the improvement it made!
make sure you torque them up PROPERLY, i dont torque anything up but i always make sure i do plugs, too many horror storys of them blowing plugs out the head!
theres why, low mile's isnt good for them! another is people waiting 18k for oil changes, they should be done every 10k imo in the dci especially when doing low miles do that and a yearly fuel filter and they are spot on.
buy a 2k dci and stick all your miles on that @ 65mpg then have the vee for the weekend if you want one, altho if you stay on a main road chances are it will go walkabout!
cheers for all the comments guys!
it hides away most of the time in the garage, just bring it out on a nice day! needing a few wee bits n bobs before im 100% happy with it, we'll need to get a meet up and get some pics when ive got it the way i want it, i found your car on google street view...

yeah quite happy with it, i beleive i need to go heavyer with the lacquer to get a more shiney finish but its all a learning curve, dont think ill be painting cars any time soon lol but for something like this it turned out fine!
was bored so decided to go get some paint etc and do my engine cover pearl black, now im no professional painter, infact it was my first attempt but quite happy with how it turned out, just need some more practice and a spray gun for my compressor would be handy!
gearboxes arnt an issue, anyone who tells you they are doesnt own one lol.
check for snapped handbrake cables, rear disks on these so check these (about £160 for a set of rear disks and bearings) ensure it pulls right to the 5k redline (it wont be great over 4.5k but it should still pull) and...
to change to the 1.6 ecu would require the ecu coded to the car so really your cheaper just mapping the 1.4 ecu that way your getting a better map than the 1.6 plus less cost!
