I have seen synchro rings that are battered as a result of GL5 oil.

3 bottles of MTL is enough for the jc5 mate. If you have a diff, or you do long stints then the MT90 is a better choice because of the heat range it works in. GL5 is too slippery for the synchros, and whilst it doesn’t kill them instantly, it does take its toll on them. MTL and MT90 is a GL4...

Redline MTL is the oil that works best in a jc5.

If it’s coming through the solenoid and entering the plug, then it’s got potential that it can damage the ecu. It’ll act like a capillary and the oil will eventually end up at the ecu.

If it’s coming through the plug I’d say the solenoid valve is fucked.

Yeah the teeth look like they’ve seen better days on the synchro cone on the gear itself and the synchro ring. Ah ok fair enough.

Any non RS will have the fork, but looking at that you need the synchro ring, synchro hub and 5th gear. That’s completely fucked.

That noise is the same one they all make when you rotate one wheel back and forth. It could have got some wear internally within the diff though if it’s particularly loud.
