Install VLC for Fire (yep its vlc but on firestick) directly from the amazon store.
Then on the app you have, ill presume its XC rebranded, go to Settings, Player Type, swap the Movies and VOD(Or Series) to External Player/VLC.

Yep robust and rechargeable . Not had an issue and they do actually work with location services via other devices so its a winner for the money.

Id get an android box myself and run it via that, means you can run vpn and supported apps if you feel the need.
