I dont think they are the same. The 172 has a wheel well so I seem to remember the carpet had some sort of reinforcement for the wheel bit. they are the same shape exactly though.
They are both as good as each other in my opinion. personally i prefer driving a 182 a a day to day car.
Whats the full story with wanting to scrap it and sell it in Munich. Sounds like a good story!
I really dont know about the metal clip. They might be a standard size or fitment - perhaps someone knows as I dont.

Flashing EML is usually the injectors.
If it helps this was a cheap place for them last year.

Are you absolutely sure the head is rounded?
You do need a thin socket to get down the hole. Most sockets won't get down the hole as the socket side walls are too thick.
I know for sure that the Halfords 1/4" 10 or 13mm sockets will go down.
Massive problem with getting a mk2 172 ready for an MOT. The dash needles are not moving when you turn the key on.
Rpms
Speed
Petrol
Coolant.
They do move when you do the dash test.
So far a new ecu uch has been tried.
Relays and fuses have been checked we think.
Has anyone got any pointers or...
Id agree with changing the master cylinder. I think I may have to do mine too which im not looking forward to.
