That's a good point. Should be able to get an old, manual prime for that money. I remember a while back I picked up a 28mm f2 (I think) and the adapter for Canon fit for under £50.

I suppose it all depends on your budget. The 600D mentioned above would be an idea first camera. Start with a kit lens (18-55) and then if you get in to it, buy some more suited lenses to your preferred photography.
