£224 fully comp!!! Is yours standard and do you live in a gated community with armed guards or something? ;)
I'm 36 and mine's closer to £500 with 10 years NCB, although mine is modified and I live in Coventry's DMZ.
I think we need a bit more info than that mate.
Who are you with now?
How old are you?
How long have you been driving?
How many years NCB do you have?
Any points on your licence from speeding/traffic convictions?
etc.....
Also there is an insurance section to post in.
You can have the battery disconnected indefinitely pretty much,
it wont affect anything, other than your dash clock & stereo pre-sets.
Obviously your alarm & immobiliser wont work, but it's not like anyone can steal the car without a battery in it. ;)
Remove the negative first, then the positive, undo the battery clamp, lift it out job done.
If you're leaving the battery in place, wrap the ends in gaffa tape. (metal bits at the end of the wires)
You don't want them touching the battery and shorting out and causing a fire.
The JC5 130 I got from a breakers is smooth as silk,
it's a good stop gap while you save for a refurb, cost me £275 but it's 20k miles newer than my car.
If it makes you feel better I don't have the money for a second box and refurb,
so i'm just gambling that mine will last a few years while I...
Get another one from a breakers or the for sale section, £150-£250 depending on mileage.
Then send your knackered one to Agency Transmissions for a full refurb,
he'll take it apart and tell you what it'll cost before he does anything.
If he can't sort it, or reckons it's too knackered he won't...
Any new aftermarket exhaust is going to sound like a loud chav box untill it gets coked up,
I got mild tinnitus when my Piper stealth was fitted, took a month or two to quieten down.
I found insuring mods on my 172 with a specialist, was cheaper than insuring it standard with a normal insurer. :S
It might not be as bad as you think declaring springs.
I went to a well respected MOT station where I live and they told me it failed because my headlights were f*cked,
one pointed down and one pointed up, they said 'we'll have to book it in to get it looked at'.
I opened the bonnet and saw that the bulb was just loose, I clipped it back in and...
Time to upgrade to Eibachs I think.
Kwik-Fit are just brainless monkeys with spanners,
in fact a shaved chimp with a socket set could probably sort your car out better than they can.
