You could always try loosening the top mount, pulling the engine as far forward as possible, and tighten it up again. That fixed the issue on my old 172

After reading through @SharkyUK project thread, he's used a heavier than normal flywheel so maybe he can offer some advice as there must be a reason he has gone that route?

You've trapped a lead between the upper manifold and the cam cover. Or you've left off one of the vacuum hoses

I rekkon its camber. Car lowered, negative camber induced as a result. Can still make the wheels point forward fine. The more -camber then the less the contact point on the road surface, meaning less resistance hence feeling loose? Theory sounds right in my head anyway :)

Ryan, I think buying this would be no slick manoeuvre. The damage already done could put you onto a slippery slope, hold out and you could slide into a much better buy. Don't Fuch yourself over by purchasing an engine that could be damaged beyond repair.

Could it be tyre related? When I bought my MPS I was convinced one of the rear wheel bearings had gone. I put up with it at the time, then just before I went over to the 'ring I had new tyres fitted. Noise gone! Sounded just like a bearing!

Those "reactions" glasses are one of my pet hates. Just makes whoever is wearing them look a bit....dirty. Like they need a good wash. Car is still good though. Can't beat the noise of a VW 6pot
