if its a 172 then that's definitely low and I would be looking at tyre pressures, check for sticking callipers, lambda sensor, thermostat and coolant temp sensor.

I done it without removing the passengers side shaft as I had just not long done the box oil., I just removed the 2 ball joint to bottom arm bolts and the 2 strut to hub nuts and bulled the hub and shaft towards me with the box!

I lowered the subframe a tad and pulled the box to the side, chopped a bit off the clutch alignment tool and managed it that way
