Yeah that went when the non sport dash top was installed. Hate looking at that blue colour they used for the dash top in phase 1s. Even if you flocked the dash you'd still have the blue airbag there.

Have a good look around the dash to make sure there's nothing keeping it in place. Wire might be caught somewhere?

Yeah its not cheap but has a lot of functionality and doesn't look too out of place in the E39 dash. I think normal DIN sized stereos can look rubbish in E39s/E46s

I made a similar one on my old 172, great mod. Be careful removing the existing one though, maybe spray some WD40 on the bolts before you remove them.
