bumpers ideally need wings which need sideskirts and you would want arch liners and spacers/wheels too so it ends up an expensive route although can and has been done a lot and looks brilliant!!
I recon you would get 172 hubs for £50, front callipers and new discs and pads (oem nothing fancy)...
going back to a non RS clio I think if I was fitting eibachs again id stick 172 hubs, brakes and dampers on it too! (if they fit cant remember what the ball joint looks like on a non rs!)
I done box out the top with engine still in on a dci65 was a pain, Im doing the clutch and box refurb on my 172 this winter and I think tbh ill just lift the engine and box out as one.
less reliable box? lol behave theres nothing wrong with it, its a massive upgrade over a JC5 in feel alone!.
of course abuse it and it will die just as quick as your JC5 would!
where the box is nicer, the ratios and 6 speed were really only to offset the weight of the 197/200 I bet a 172 in 5th...
agreed plus many already have 172 track cars so its an easy step up.
how many 182 track cars are on here compaired to 172's!!! I bet its not far off a 1:10 ratio!!! why? because its the same car at half the cost
I think its ridiculous, the exclusion of 172's plus lets be honest there isn't enough performance difference between a standard map and a remapped car to worry about, so standard ecu isn't a worry, everyone would be running fastchip 98ron anyway!
im with john on this one why not just regulate it...
seems totally pointless when you cold save nearly enough to compete for a year by running a 172 on 15" wheels with the standard ecu!!
(lol @ everyone flying round on pops and bangs maps!!)
I refer to mine as a fast road car, it doesnt go on track, it has a full interior, air con, all sound deadning fitted, standard exhaust.
But it also has a nice suspension setup, getting bigger brakes and low boost conversion.
That to me is the best way to describe fast road!
I wish mine done 30mpg, i never saw above 21mpg. That was over 13k miles.
I still stand by the opinion that the gearboxes dont stand up to lack of mechanical sympathy very well but use them well and the wont break, ive never had a box fail over 10 renaults and 200,000 miles!
I did however...
think ill order a set of cooksports, ive always used cup dampers and eibachs on all my 172s so just ordered away this time without actually looking into it, cooksports didn't exist last time I done a refresh!
dci100 is neck and neck with a 1.6 16v from 60-110mph, 1.6 16v has a small edge 0-60, once mapped the 100 eats it alive!
1.6 16v will realistically do high 30's mpg around town where dci100 will do high 50's
don't know what your budget is but personally id have a dci100 over one any day of the week, probably a dci80 too, and id have a Twingo TCE over any of them but obviously your gonna need £4.5k for one of them!
imo having owned them all of course!
I put 20 quid of petrol in my GT DCi when it had a half tank of diesel already in it, it ran a bit funny until I realised and filled it up with diesel again and it was sound lol!
of course it is, that's what Chip is pointing out!
I recently done the works on mine with all the cup parts etc plus a set of eibachs and its epic the way it drives now, steering feel, road holding, you can drive it flat out everywhere if you choose and don't feel nervous especially over...
I had an epic spec one with cruise control, ESP, Climate control, cabasse, 6 disc changer and leccy roof and it was awesome, wasn't the best on fuel, but it went really well until the timing belt was changed and it lost its edge, I didn't realise they needed special tools too just like the 172...

I thought the cup racers were going to have AP Racing brakes, that one has brembos
id get it on a diagnostics machine before you start throwing cash at it.
if you just want to start doing parts then id say plugs and coil pack first, you already done injectors, do you know they are 100% working? and beore touching the fuel system id be looking at engine wiring loom if its a...
im guilty of this mistake a few years ago with the calliper!
and as above remember the spacer, i bought a 1.6 16v dynamique from a dealers that had 2 shot wheel bearings so they fitted new rear discs as part of the conditions i was buying it, they missed out a spacer which 4 months later during...
could be a number of things, i had a look at one that had the same issue but was quite badly misfiring under load, it had done 50k miles and never been serviced since it left the factory so i tried plugs first as they needed done, same issue, changed the coil pack as i had a spare lying about i...
sorry ive probably not worded it properly, its not the smooth power curve im looking for from the 200 engine, its just physically how nice the engine revs, very smooth and balanced feeling compaired to a 172/182 lump, which i assume comes from a better crank on the 200?
when looking at...
your logic is flawed, the fuel light is telling you that you need more fuel yet there could be 100 miles worth in it during mpg changes. So if you reset ur trip accelerate hard so you get 5mpg, your computer says 25 miles of range left and pops the fuel light on, does it go back off when you...
Bingo, fuel light comes on with a gallon left in the tank, you average 25mpg or there abouts, which means it comes on when your car recons theres 25 miles left, going by the ammount in thr tank. Same way my 200 light came on at 21 miles ;)
right so if im doing 10mpg on track, my fuel lights going to come on when ive got 25 miles left, yet ive actually got 100 miles left in the tank for my drive home at 40mpg?
