Im sorry ive seen this car, personally i wouldnt buy it now, i know he has just spend alot of money on the car according to the person that owned the car before as he is friends with the current owner. but there are loads to choose from
They have to ring the customer before work is carried out no good carrying out a 1k repair if thwey havent rang to say it needs it for all you know the bloke/woemn may have no money and want to scrap the car for example
I thought about moving away from being a techy to a service advisor in our dealership. but after thinking about it i couldnt deal with the hassle of deallign with the idiot customers or telling ppl lies of why there car isnt done etc.
so stuck with being a techy.
Yes the ECU needs to adaped back to it 98 ron map. Yes these sort of things needs to be done on a cool night no air con on no windows open correct tyre pressure

immob light going out? whats the park light? water on the battery may be the fluid inside leaking
Henry that sensor controls the revs where its leaking. proberly need a new switch they always leak. it may be the clocking sound that the top mount bearing is seized and the spring is slipping
