Ideally I would like ABS on my Cup. However to say the car is dangerous without it is tosh.
Ferrari F40 and lots of other fast cars didnt have it and people dont call them dangerous.
Omission of ABS is only dangerous in the hands of a complete muppet who cant drive. For everyone else its...

JoZeff,
Bug eye WRXs are pretty laggy below 3k. Theyre a bit flat footed esp on the motorway - look at 50-70mph times quite a few slower cars can get a steal on them if they catch the driver unawares in 5th.
Classic shape Impreza Turbo was more laggy round town to 3k but noticeably punchier...

167mph according to one or two that have been measured with GPS on Scoobynet.
P1s will just keep accelerating right up to the rev limiter and beyond so its pretty dangerous doing top speed runs in them. Apparently quite a few P1 engines (no 3 piston) have let go during high speed runs.

Main difference IMHO between the 2 cars isnt the straight line speed but how they take corners. The way the two cars drive is completely different and overall the bugeye WRX is more complete and obviously has easy modding potential.
Cup is great on smooth roads but I find it hard work on bumpy...

You are always gonna get a difference on this one depending on whether you own the 172 or the Cup.
IMHO I would buy the Cup cos its cheaper unless you want an EU sourced import. I also found the steering is sharper and better weighted than the standard car which brings together the whole...

Getting excited now.
Updated my profile this afternoon.
Reckon am gonna go for the clear side repeaters. Ive read on this forum you can pick them up from Halfords. Are they easy to fit - even for a novice like myself?
Will ask the dealer about some tasty mats and let you know.

Any tips for when I pick up my new cup tomorrow.
Are there any decent car mats available for it?
Still need to decide whether I run it in or thrash it from the word go
Im itching to run it against my P1 to see whether it will keep up. Would be nice to shock a few of the local scooby...

10 get you a 97MY UK classic shape with 208bhp from a dealer. Or a STI 4 with 286bhp.
Bug eye imprezas start about 15k private from December 2000 onwards.
I agree that EVOs and Imprezas arent as quick in straight line as their 0-60 times would suggest. Get in a TVR and see what I mean. But...
Just to complete
Scooby UK MY 99 0-60 5.4 0-100 14.6 bhp/ton 174
EVO VI 0-60 4.8 0-100 13.3 bhp/ton 199 (Forget your Autocar b*llsh*t modified times or drag strip surface times)
Scooby P1 0-60 4.7 0-100 13.1 bhp/ton 219

As a Scooby nutter I reckon I can answer this one.
Scooby proper classic shape not one of the new bug eye things is quicker than Fiat to about 70mph then Fiat would catch up and v slowly edge ahead.
Both would get a lead on the Clio by about 4 - 5 car lengths to the ton (unless the scoob is...

Hi to fellow Cup owners
Ordered mine last weekend. Told it would arrive on 1st November. Apparently just missed the first batch of 250 :(
Dealer has a new one in the showroom I can drool over till then.
As Im new to the 172 scene do owners wave to each other? Only previous experience is...

From my experiences with the Cooper they arent any more reliable than the Clio. So wheres the extra dosh going.
Im not surprised you couldnt lose the Cooper. On a twisty road its much more about driver skill than anything else. It would take a much faster car to easily out run you.

Std EVO 6s arent as quick as the 0-100 in 11.2 time posted above.
That time was recorded by Autocar on a Ralliart special job with tweaked boost and full HKS zaust system.
Std Evo 6 is more like 13secs (EVO Mag) to the ton which is why when you jump from one into the likes of a Tuscan the...
