That might be true but if your car is reading 47mpg and your really getting around 40mpg then imo that is still very good fo what it is. Although I don't think they are that far out myself.

sod all difference in a straight line and sod all in the twisties in general road use. certainly nothing that some springs wouldn't sort out (apparently!). so go with the one in the best condition imo.

You might well find its not worth changing the water pump after inspection and save your self some more money.
