sorry for the spanner throwing Ian!
TBH, i would sell it, if you dont actually drive it much then you may aswell sell it, keep the money in the bank. then in may or whenever you get a job buy a newer car.
i dont understand pouring money into a car that will constantly need money spending on it...
cheers for that chorleyfm, it was only£88 delivered. obvisouly had to wait along time to get one in the same colour as the car.
it took me longer that it thought, but was easy. needed circlips for the foam inserts behind bumper.
as for fitting theres 3 screws for the arch liners each side, and...
I was in the same boat, i had a mk2 ph1 s reg, spent about £500 on it to pass MOT, then they gave me an advisory note, basically saying the cars falling apart, costing more than what the cars worth.
sell it buy a newer one. some good deals about!
I changed my standard 1.2 rear bumper with this 172 bumper, a nice subtle mod!
Could'nt post pics for some reason so ive done a link instead.

I paid £70 off ebay, £88 inc P&P. this was in black pearl. only 2/3 small chips in paint which is easily dealt with.
I think a 1*2 rear bumper is one of the best mods for a 1.2 personally.
Havent got the liners yet but thats a small scrappy job.
Fitting it tomorrow!
Its swings and roundabout, a car with 80k+ is normally fine, given its got a FSH and is in good condition.
Its how the cars got the millage which counts.
A car thats been ragged around town for 80k, or a car thats been curising on the Motorway for 80k. i know which one id pick!
Well enjoy...
why not make a 1.2 look like a 1*2, im modding my 1.2 to look like a 1*2, its not that i cant afford a 1*2, although the insurance would be a bit of a stretch. but i prefer the look of a 1*2 over the 1.2.
If i wanted a fast car i wouldnt get a 1*2, however i like the look of them.
Its possible...
£300-£500 isnt really alot for modifying a 1.2. but with your budget i would go for some real simple mods. silvertecs, RS grill, Colour coding. all of which will make the car look so much better, especially the colour coding.
Then when you have more money, get lowering springs (or coil overs)...
well aslong as they fit into the hole, they should just be able to be srcewed into the top of bumper. well im fitting my rear 172 bumper, washing car, installing stereo, speakers and sub. will have a good look at fogs see if i can work out the best way to fix them. wiring on the other hand, i...
so received my 172 rear bumper today, theres about 3 chips in the paint, what sort of paint is best to use? just a touch-up pen?
its in black pearl btw.
oh, i bought these in halford, never got round to fitting them! they have been in the boot for over a year now. if i remember rightly i neeeded to alter the bracket for them to look spot on.
i think i might fit them now!
