and what exactly does a 172 having injectors and an ecu have to do with vvti and vvt?
toyotas VVT is continuous varible valve timing where as the 172 has an on off system, so no, they are not the same, do you class vtec and vvt as the same thing?
insurance on conversions is rediculous, you will insure a 1.6 16v clio pretty cheap but try insuring a 1.2 16v with a 1.6 16v conversion!! have you done any quotes for 172's tho? i got insured at 18 on mine with 0 ncb.
imo the only reason for doing a conversion is for cheap insurance ie. not...
its not a toyota it doesnt have vvti
as mentioned before your rev limiter will come in early untill the engine is up to temperature, this can take up to 20 minutes of normal easy driving in my experiance if its a cool day and you shouldnt be going near the limiter if its not up to temperature...
ive driven a few different ones both 16v and 8v over the years and the 16vs are a good bit quicker as your flying thru the revs thru the gears, around town in all honesty you wont notice too much difference due to the 8v getting its power lower down the rev range, they feel the same untill about...
hi mate sorry just noticed your post, it was up at loch lubnaig just past callender, decent location and what a drive taking it to the redline in 4th then back on the brakes blip to 3rd and away we go again! im in love with it!
if you or anyone you know is interested in the EK give me a PM and...
civic handles better than my clio due to the LSD corners at crazy speeds! (not like a 172 corners that slow either!!)
were not really into abusing our cars off the lights etc but from 30+ the clio pulls on it, over 100 clio is a good bit quicker.
overall imo the civic is the better drivers...
ek4 is a vti/sir (vti being top uk spec, sir being top spec jap car bth fitted with b16a or b16a2 dependant on age) ek9 is the type r and type r only
you get a prefacelift like the one above, a facelift and the last of the ek9's were type Rx's which was the facelift shape but had some extra...
You mean a facelift? only problem with that is it's a whole front end, bumper headlights wings bonnet and grille! He doesnt like the facelifts lol he is old school! says the Rx's came with metal pedals, red stitched gear knob, remote locking and were made in 00 (couple of other minor diff's)
me and my mate went a blast since it was a nice day, gave mine a quick wash before we went, CTR had a good detail as its up for sale (pm me if anyones interested or watch for the add coming on Piston Heads)
anyway....
comments, questions?!
not in theory or reality!!
rs manifold flows marginaly better, your re working it to make it flow even better so your not going to get any more gains when worked with an RS than you would get with a normal one.
never driven one but i know from word of mouth that the clutches arnt best on them, only advice ive ever heard about the clutches on them is ONLY use genuine renault clutch cables. do you know if its ever been changed or replaced with a oem replacement?
not red, i hate red calipers unless they are brembo of course! blue as long as it was a perfect colour match to the car. dont know if that could of blue with black wheels would pull of yellow! maby with huge calipers and 300mm disks it would!
if your needing to keep the gate lifted up to get into first and 2nd then it sounds to me like your linkage needs re adjusted or an engine mount is completely gone.
as for the op, change the gearbox oil first see how that goes, how many miles has it done on the current oil?
is it only on...
looking good as usual mate, i gave you a wave the other day when i was coming out the shell garage in springkerse in the 172, wasnt sure if you saw me or not though just noticed you at the last minute
