the problems eather been the lorrys been badly loaded, the drivers not put his cover on properly (or not put it on at all!) or its been a rock jammed between the wheels thats came flying out.
im thinking its possibly the wheels due the way it came flying at the car (the roads quite wide and...
was just driving along on the way to work in my new 172 when i heard a massive bang, look in my mirror to see a lorry go past and my bump strip fly up in the air, got out for a look, a rock came flying off the lorry and hit the side of my car!!!
car needs front and rear bumpstrip on drivers...
roller bearing came off on my passengers side one, roller pins went into the box, locked it, snapped lower dogbone mount out the gearbox, ripped the flexi off.
needed...

new driveshaft
new gearbox mount
gearbox oil
new cat
done the work myself to save labour but parts alone were...
well im VERY impressed with the FK's on the 1.2, there the adjustable damping ones and got them set quite hard and on most roads its perfect it has zero body roll! down a backroad it feels much more fun than the 172 but thats possibly the race car feel you get from the 1.2 lol sparks flying out...
i had apex on my 1.2 (springs and dampers) and they were awesome, nearly as good as my FK Silverline X Coilovers with adjustable konis!
my standard 172 is all over the place compaired to my 1.2 dropped 80mm on FK's the back end is so unpredictable, i feel i cant lift off coming upto...
right thats me got a list of stuff to check and try now lol. tyre preassures first, then lazer aligned then if its still a problem, Sportlines, if not then back to coilovers lol.
really didnt want to mod this car eather!!!
it just doesnt feel planted on the road, feels like it weighs about 850kg lol wasnt sure if it was due to a heavyer front end giving me this feeling? its a weird feeling but HAS seems to understand it.
it just doesnt give me any fun, just raced an STi uk impreza and kept up well with it but...
for 2 years ive had my 1.2 16v clio, spent loads and loads on it and always drive it to the limit every time i drive it. and ive never once got bored of it (just always wanted more power, but always enjoyed driving it)
a week and a half ago i got my mk2 172 in iceberg silver, I love the way it...
in all honesty, the problem is exactly the same problem ive experianced with the 1.2, 16" wheels. it tramlines too much, i dont like a car that tramlines at 130mph! thats why my turinis were only on my 1.2 for a couple of weeks then back to 15" wheels.
its a lovely looking car, love the interior but being troothfully honest, its not as fun as my 1.2, i dont have half as much fun as i do in the 1.2.
im paying thousands of pounds a year extra for less fun?
cheers, still got the wee 1.2 its staying, i still love driving it lol all that noise and poping lol it makes ur ears bleed, 172 is just nice and standard and QUIET!! lol
might get the inlets matched, panel filter and remap but thats all, no noisy mods or harsh ride mods!
might bring it along to meets but im pretty skint this month due to paying the deposit on the car, paying off my insurance in 1 payment and going on holiday all in one month!!!!
got it for £6800 with 24k on the clock, new front and rear brakes, oil and filter change (was serviced early at 21k)...
Heres some quick pics of my new Iceberg MK2 172 that i got last week. Overall im VERY happy with it, looks brilliant, drives brilliant, pretty quick and love the interior. think this ones staying standard-ish apart from the ICE as im really not impressed with it! so thinking of getting a new...
i wouldnt bother, i went from my 1.2 16v to my 172 and to me it doesnt feel THAT much faster, it handles really well, but so do standard 1.2 16v's so even at that its not a night and day difference.
when i go back and take my 1.2 a blast it doesnt feel slow, i only notice the lack of torque, i...
my mate has the older style starlet gtt with only exhaust and filter mods and my 172 is quite a bit quicker, (especially over 80mph) plus as standard there limited to 110mph or there about. and my 172 handles better, mine is standard his is on trd springs and uprated dampers.
if the glanza is...
Saw a Iceberg Silver MK2 172 sitting at falkirk retail park lastweek, said to my bird "id love one in that colour" as we caught every speedbump in the 1.2
a week later and i spot it again as i park my shiney new iceberg silver 172 beside it :D:D
anyone from here? would have flyer'd it if i...
left for dust in a 1.2 lol only reason my 1.2 was fun was because it was so fukin loud poping and banging and about 2cm from the ground! handles like f**k and sounds the part, just really fukin slow
around town you wont notice a difference infact the 8v feels a bit quicker due to cable throttle being more responsive and better low down torque.
over 3,000rpm tho the 16v is quicker, i love my little 1.2 16v even now that im used to the 2.0 16v 172
i hate these ph4 things, ph2 was the nicest mk2 dynamique they done.
dont like the front or back lights or drums and tints r too dark, wheels dont look to bad not my cuppa tea tho.
that the Apex kit you have on it? nice choice, ive got an old apex kit lying about need to get another clio to...
u think ur car rattles lol...
try driving my 1.2 dropped 80mm on FK Silverline X coilovers with the koni dampers set fukin hard, Powerflex dogbone & ARB bushes, Powerflex Dogbone mount bushes, Powerflex exhaust mounts.
the vibration is mental, ride is very very harsh on main roads, get it...
