k-tec relocation kit is shite, i tried loads of different IK's on mine, the relocation kit is too long you loose torque over standard, it runs past the hot radiator which doesnt help matters eather!.
best option and the option i went for after spending about £300 in total in IK's is a £30...
mmv powerflow in stirling that sean used are SHITE!
Motorsport World do powerflow now tho and are brilliant my system on my old 1.2 was brilliant, was designed to be loud and loud it was used to pop like mad and even the odd bang when it was decat'ed lol
its going on sportlines on monday but still dont think it'l be low enough to pull them off but after seeing they pics it looks like it might be ok! dont know what wheels to go for, will put my dynamique wheels on it with 195/45/15 eagle F1s to see how it drives!
I give up with these 16" pieces of shite lol had the same problem on my 1.2 with 16" turinis so want to go for 15's for the 172 but dont know what to go for so looking for some ideas!
cheers
everything that needs changed to fit the 2.0 needs changed to fit the 1.6 anyway apart from suspension and brakes, but if you have an 8v 1.2 then they need done anyway!
imo its 2.0 or nothing, ive looked into it was ready to do it and went and bought a 172 as the difference is massive. 1.6 was...
ive never once borrowed any money or had any money towards my cars i work between 40 and 60 hours a week just for the privilage of owning a nice/fast car at a young age!!
if i was to go back all id have done to my 1.2 was drop it 100mm on the coilovers, 195/45/15 Eagle F1s on standard wheels, 5mm spacers and the catback exhaust.
wouldnt bother with any other crap lol
it saved me 150 on my 1.2 which was then 1200 quid so imo not worth it. not sure what it saved on the 172 as i didnt get a before quote.
i just done it because it was free.
saw a blue 172 cup at motac in stirling with white turinis and loud exhaust, i was in my iceberg silver mk2 172.
car looked and sounded good buddy, lower limiter due to oil temp catch u out when pulling away did it hehe ;)
i have pollys on my 1.2 and it made a massive difference, i thought it had a responsive feel to it untill i fitted them, theres no play at all and imo it didnt feel too hard.
and polly bushes WONT wear out quicker than rubber ones?!
Black 182 behind me in stirling when i came out the carpark today and a silver one beside me at the same time hehe, guy in the black one flashed and wasnt sure if he was flashing at the silver car because it was his mate or me because i was in the 172 so after a wee thought about it i flashed my...
my old one was RR'd at 82bhp at the fly, but we all know how pish RR's are it had stainless cat back, decat, ITG Pannel Filter & Vpower with Octain booster haha was quick for what it was but still fukin slow compaired to my 172, handled well too but the shitty electric power steering was pish...
looks fine to me, thats a simmilar idea to what i done with my 1.2 16v airbox when i had it. except i ran the cold air feed to the standard location but used a slightly wider one.
i wanted to buy a valver and wide track it for a wee project but cant afford now that ive got the 172, might when i get the 1.2 away, but was thinking about a dci to get to work and back. hmmm got me thinking now lol
i couldnt go back to a 1.2 16v you need to nail f**k out them to get them to go anywhere, i used to get 220miles to a tank of petrol (£45) in mine, 172 gets 400+ when i drive it carefully or the same 220miles-ish when i hammer it so really its much better as you cant drive the 1.2 carfull its to...
Motorsport World in glasgow there a powerflow dealer they done my 1.2 16v exhaust and its brilliant, sounds brilliant and very well done.
loads of us use them.
my 1.2 16v hit peak power at 5450rpm or there abouts.
i found it best to change at 5700rpm.
anything over and it droped off the power too much, anything under and it didnt pull hard enough in the next gear.
personally i wouldnt bother with an 8v one, especially when your used to a 182.
when i get into my 1.2 16v from the 172 i cant beleive how slow it is, its scarey!! feels dangerous but it handles s**t hot compaired to the 172 lol
