as above, pads (RC6), tyres (Yoko's, Toyo's or Nankangs) and eibach springs on none worn standard shocks and you'll be onto a budgety winner
Cup chassis is probably best canvas to begin with and sticking those bits above on is a hour or two's job max

Cheers! Is not sharp but it's not bad, I'd literally stepped outside and saw the little blighter sat on the conservatory sill so just got in and fired a shot quick. 1/80 wasn't fast enough so not pin sharp, ideally want 1/125 or quicker for live macro work and if you can f11 or narrower...

refitting a gearbox can be done single handedly on a drive with nothing but axel stands, however its not blummin easy I can tell you. Lying on the floor under the car with a gearbox on your chest is not a nice place to be, particularly if it takes several attempts to get the $$%£ on. Two man job...

all I know is you need the 172 ball joint as well as the Williams item has smaller bolts and bolt holes
nothing is truly interchangeable, but you can bolt the whole 172 track onto a mk1. But mix and match it won't work due to bolt sizes, hub widths and other niggles. so a hybrid of both would be awkward.
