cheers for comments people :- valver turbo is the pride and joy! williams is tatty up close but done 152k bless it and the 172 ate its aux belt,jumped cambelt and monstered the heads off 3 valves,put a hole through a piston etc:-( bought it kippered tho and have engine to go into it now :-)

leaky gearboxes are part and parcel of clio ownership,as above really,if your leaks not too bad then should be fine with just drip tray to catch the residual seeping.basically should stop leaking when oil cooled down again

how do u expect me to do it properly?car is immobile so would have to get it transported to garage and back.that alone would cost more than the car stands me at!lol! yes dave,172 ;-) buy my white wheels btw ;-) ;-)

so theres 2 nuts? both on upper pipework? i am keeping car,swapping full lump then will regas the ac next summer! cant be taken to garage as its at my parents and engines fubar

and where could it accidentally,yet safely,get this leak? i presume its pressurised and nasty? no experience of ac as yet,all my previous cars have barely had power steering,lol!not really a mod con fan!

removing engine from my phase 1 172, no idea if theres any gas in the air con circuit but presuming there is whats the best practice to empty it prior to removing the lump? any constructive advice, bar 'take it to a garage' or similar comments, much appreciated :-) thanks in advance Ben

you can swap them? so they arent matched to the head like the cam carriers on the earlier F7 series of engines? is that a definate? as if it is i'll just get the 182 lump and bolt the cam cover off the phase 1 lump over as well :-)

is that a definate wont fit or most likely wont fit? presume its just the upper plenum, lower part is same on all 3 engines? phase 1 172. phase 2 and 182?

can i use a complete 182 engine, head and block, and bolt all the parts off my phase 1 172 engine to it to get it to run in the car? likely to be any issues with mapping etc of be fine on 172 management? are all the sensors same etc? any input much appreciated cheers Ben

couple of quick questions! easy one first, will et 37 offset 15" wheels (7J) fit a phase 1 172 okay thats been lowered around 40 odd mm? i.e. won't sit out too far and rub on the arches? secondly whats involved in putting a phase 2 172 lump from say an 03 plate car into a 2000 reg phase...
