if you would read it im not slating anyone for doing a rep, clearly stating the only point in doing one is to save on running costs, in which case get a dci or dont bother as a 1.2s not really that much cheaper to run than a 172!!
thats a 172 though will sound different on yours, personally id go for the sport one, supersport will be louder but since its a stealth after all you dont want it being loud!
ive always been wary of tuning boxes as they are no contest for a proper ecu remap but at £100 i suppose its no big loss you could always sell it on! let me know how you get on if you get one
what model is it DCi65, 80 or 100?
ive got a 65, running a K&N pannel filter and DCi80 intercooler and already saw some gains, just trying to find a clutch to handle the torque so i can get it mapped with some dci80 injectors!
for starters lets remember i had a 1.2 16v with well over £1000 of suspension mods, and it didnt handle as well as my STANDARD chassis 172 with a set of sportlines on it!
now take your replica, put 172 bottom arms with 172 anti roll bar, and either 172 suspension or some coilovers, uve already...
i still think the only point in doing a rep is around a dci to save cash on fuel bills.
i insured a 172 at 17 for only twice what my mates were paying on 1.2's but i had the looks, the power, the handling, i had the real deal! it was worth it.
a dci is much better on fuel (i average just...
ill look at getting some quotes, really fancy one now before i get more power, roads were a bit damp couple of weeks back and my mates civic was pulling on me no problem in the corners and this wasnt even hard driving just quick driving thru some bends
might consider an avanti then if they are worth the extra, so any place that rebuilds gearboxes will be fine for fitting? shaft need shortened with an avanti too?
does it feel any different to drive day to day or are they much the same?
how about fitting, ive never taken a gearbox apart before but ive changed a few on a clio! so getting it off and on isnt a problem its just the actual fitting of the diff?
do the standard driveshafts fit ok?
only running around 190bhp but looking at getting ITB's later this year. had a shot of a civic with an LSD yesterday and was very impressed with the pull out low speed bends you just mash the throttle and go!
they did do 100bhp ones but if its a mk2 its not a 6 speed its just a 5 speed box but its ment to be a terrible box but never used one.
dci80 uses the 172 box and dci65 uses the 1.6 box, which while still not great are ok.
dci65 has DCi in silver on the side badges, DCi80 has DC in silver...
not had time to go up yet, ill need to wait till i get paid hehe.
car seems sound so far, if it goes it goes ill put a new engine in it lol
turbo seems sweet as a nut no noise at all off it, dont think its had a hard life either that or its been replaced, not sure not got any service history...
well the reason for running the dci at the moment is to save money to pay off some debt so not till nesrer summer i dont think.
plus dci needs a few bits n bobs done to sort it out then ill mod it more. its about to hit 150,000 miles lol
ive got a cambelt sitting, had it since i got the car just never had the bloddy time! will try and get it done soon, i cant see it being too hard being a single cam engine but not really had a look yet!
im not 100% sure on the injectors i just know they need to be coded to the car, not sure if...
afaik you cant buy the clip from renault seperate, only in a cv boot kit but when my car was in to get serviced they just put a jubilee clip on it as he said the standard ones are crap.
