As per the others, try and get a space saver in there. If you have a blow out or a ripped tyre, tyre weld won't be doing s**t and you'll wish you bothered to put a space saver in. I speak from bitter experience.

The engines (providing they've had regular servicing) will go on forever. Very very strong engines.

£2000 will buy you a really nice 172. Whatever you buy, make sure the Cambelt kit/aux belt kit have been replaced by someone that knows what they're doing. Preferably a specialist on here. If you buy one that's been timed up wrong it will be slow and have s**t fuel consumption.
